Philadelphia’s best kept secret finally came to the surface when she released her debut album Moments Like This. It was an independent released, with credits from songwriter Angie Stone and guest appearances by Black Thought of The Roots. Carol Riddick says, “In April I released my first solo effort entitled Moments Like This so I’d like to consider that the beginning” And on her main musical inspiration? Carol Riddick says, “Nancy Wilson, she is the epitome of femininity”

How does she make her music? Carol Riddick says, “Carefully, emotionally, strategically and by the grace of God”

“All of the trailblazers”, in regards to who Carol Riddick admires in the music industry. Fan’s of Jill Scott’s Beautifully Human album would have been able to see Carol Riddick perform as backing vocalist. “John Mayer, Michael Buble, just to name a couple” she says on the artists she’d like to work with.

And on doing backing vocalis for Jill Scott? Carol Riddick confesses, “It was such a great experience. I get asked this question a lot but I don’t mind because the experience was such a good one”

Born and raised in South Philadelphia, music has been her life since she was a teenager, and with a vocal talent like hers. She soon got touring with Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff. Carol Riddick has appeared on records with Anthony Hamilton, Jill Scott, Norman Brown, and Kindred The Family Soul. Most recently, she featured with her good friend Musiq SoulChild on his Soulstars song. A title song on his platinum selling Soulstars album.

“I am currently promoting my new CD” She continues, “I just had the opportunity to open for Earth, Wind & Fire, which was incredible too and I’m looking forward to more blessings”, confirms the current Carol Riddick. “Stay focused, always be yourself and stay true to yourself in everything that you do and the plan that the creator has for you will come to fruition”

Lastly, Carol Riddick speaks of her future plans, “I can’t predict the future but I pray that I will continue to grow and that I will have more experiences that everyone can relate to and share” says Carol Riddick.
